Houston's Industrial Park has been a beehive of activity this summer. Construction of roads, water and sewer lines, industrial buildings and parking lots continue at a rapid pace. Expansion of the Durham plant was recently completed and Houston Sportswear has moved to their new home in the park. Construction is well underway on a new 39,000 square foot industrial building and the City is negotiating with a manufacturer to occupy that building when it is completed this fall. Construction of a new facility for Houston's sheltered workshop is expected to begin soon.
The City of Houston is proud to welcome Physical Therapy Specialists to our community. Work on Infinite Entertainment's new commercial building continues on the north end of town. Other new businesses in town this year include Subway and the Ozark Diner.
New housing units are also under construction. Single family homes are being built in the Lone Pine subdivision and duplexes are now under construction in the newly approved Sugarmaple Estates subdivision. Planning and design work is well underway on the new Walmart Supercenter to be located at highway 63 and Holder Drive. Construction is expected to begin in February, 2002.
2001 has proven to be quite a year for Houston.
